Teach for America/Linked In Shayne Walton Teach for America is a nonprofit organization that helps to enlist, develop, and mobilize promising future leaders to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity in underserved areas. Shayne Walton, a recruiter for TFA, will be teaching students how to use LinkedIn to network and make themselves competitive applicants for their dream jobs.

Medical School Application Process Michelle Gallardo This workshop will go into detail about the medical school application process. It will discuss the components of the application itself, as well as what to expect in the following months afterwards, including primaries, secondaries, and interviews.
What is Prime? Omar Velazquez & Jesus Torres Learn about the five-year medical dual degree program, known as PRIME, that focuses on the development of leaders in medicine addressing policy, care and research in healthcare. You will be able to hear from PRIME students at UCLA and UCI and understand the similarities and differences between each.
Optimizing your time during Gap Years Crystal Gonzalez, Audrey Salas, & Tiffany Calero Learn what a gap year is and why it may be beneficial! Stop the Bleed UCLA Emergency Medical Services An emergency medicine workshop that includes hands-on-training! Learn how to stop the bleeding! This workshop will be presented by the UCLA Emergency Medical Services organization. First come, first serve. Workshop will be capped at 30 students.

Minorities in Healthcare Jennifer Pinal As first-generation students pursuing a pre-health career it can be daunting to find your space in an environment lacking diversity. In this workshop, a diverse panel of health care professionals share their personal experiences being minorities in the healthcare field. Aiming to share their best advice to overcome this disparity, the panelists seek to answer any questions students, as well as the coming generation, might have to inspire revolutionaries in the healthcare field.

MMI: Practice Makes Perfect Dr. Margarita Loeza The Medical School Interview. Overview of traditional, group and Multi Mini Interviews commonly used in interviews. This session is helpful for students applying to PA or Medical School. There will be an overview of the process with helpful tips.
The Insider View: What MD and MD/PhD (MSTP) Admissions Committees Want Dr. Gil Hoftman This workshop will help you prepare for a strong medical school application process and avoid killer pitfalls. At least you will know the inside scoop of one medical school admissions committee and what they have been searching for in ideal candidates. We will also discuss some differences between MD only and MD/PhD (Medical Scientist Training Program – MSTP) application.
